Former world champion equestrian Zara Phillips has announced that her horse Toytown will be officially retired on the final day of the Festival of British Eventing, on August 7th. There will be a short ceremony in front of the fans, so that they can say goodbye to one of the best event horses of all time. According to Zara, Toytown will then live out retirement on the grounds of the Gatcombe Estate being “thoroughly spoiled”. While the horse suffered from injuries in recent years, the highlight had to be 2006 where the duo captured the world championship. Speaking of their success, the future bride said: "Toytown is my horse of a lifetime and he has given me more than I could ever have dreamed of.” The 18-year-old horse completed his last competition in September, 2009.Zara is currently still in the hunt for the British Olympic team. She continues to search for a go-to horse, having narrowed it down to two – High Kingdom and Lord Lauries. The latter is the pairing that appears to hold the most promise.
